ØYEBLIKK

'IN THE BLINK OF AN EYE' | 2020

"ØYEBLIKK is a story about a period of time that once existed, a period of time that shaped the way I see the world, a period of time that we all share now."

Each garment has its own story. Taking reference from memory or photographs, the pieces were made spontaneously whilst purposefully re-living past events. With intention, this would allow that time to exist as a beautiful memory, embodied within objects.

MATERIALS

ØYEBLIKK questions the value attached to materials.

Found suitcases become 'THE SUITCASE BAGS', ship sails and tents become 'THE FISHING JACKET', and dead stock Vibram Fivefingers are upcycled with secondhand heels donated by Vogue Journalist, Sarah Mower.

Each item has a narrative, an origin story transparently explained.

EXPERIENCE

'ØYEBLIKK' opened the Central Saint Martins MA Press Show on 14th February 2020 at 1 Granary Square, London.

As the story unfolded, each member of the travelling group enters the space, lit by a singular white light. These personas have been on a journey that led them to the space; their hair is wind swept and their skin is flushed, with sweat beads and silver details that glisten in the light.

As the audience questions the origins of the group, they read the printed synopsis left on their seat. On the reverse side is an explanation of each of the pieces worn by the nomads, explaining their origin and materiality.

A moment recreated, a moment to reflect.
